About Us

Hi there, unknown reader surfing the waves of the Web!

I’m Xander Roa – ‘Xander’ being a nickname I adopted because I don’t like the sound of ‘Alex’ that much 🙂

Let me be clear right off the bat: Quite a few sites are created by people who use fake persona, with cheaply outsourced/AI-generated content galore.

Stylethority isn’t like this.

First, I stand behind the site with my real picture and name. Second, every single piece of content you see here is single-handedly written by me.

Stylethority is a one-man show for now, but I’d like to expand to a small team (2-3 people) in the future.

I’m an editor-in-chief in another project and I found out that working in a small team is pretty comfortable.

Shoot me an email at info (at) stylethority.com to say hi, leave feedback, or discuss any collaboration you might have in mind!

What is Stylethority about?

Basically, Stylethority is a wordplay on ‘style’ and ‘authority’. I thought it was a bit dorky, but my friends said it actually sounds pretty nice.

I’d like to see Stylethority live up to its name. The site features reviews, analyses, and personal anecdotes on specific products that I’m personally interested about and invested in.

These are mainly:

Suspension products: The suspension system is pretty much my favorite out of all the aspects the automotive world has to offer. It’s been my darling for close to two decades of keen interest, tinkering around, and keeping up with new products and brands.

This includes leading shock/strut brands (check my complete KYB guide, for example), brand comparisons (like my Bilstein vs Monroe post), or best-of articles such as my round-up on motorhome shock options.

Off-road or on-road; commuting or venturing among the mud or gravel – there’s plenty of setups I discuss in my articles. I don’t play favorites and aim for an objective assessment, pointing out the drawbacks even if the suspension parts are otherwise top-rated:

Suspension parts aside, I’m also specifically keen on two other branches, equally split between cars and ATVs.

The first one is the thrill of the exhaust system. You can see me writing on the roaring beasts of iconic ATVs such as the Yamaha YFZ450, or compare vehicle classics like Flowmaster’s popular grumbling monsters.

From drones to mellow tones; from stock-like to heavily modded, there are plenty of things I observe and analyze in the muffler or exhaust options for vehicles from trucks to ATVs.

The third automotive aftermarket parts branch I’m keen on is…

Carburetors, baby!

Again, this applies to several applications. Since a kid, I’ve been in awe of the shiny carbs for classic vehicles – the beauty of the 454 Big Block, for example.

At the same time, there are some small, but exciting ATVs with intriguing carb options too – the OE Mikunis on the Yamaha Banshee have always been a favorite too. My classic vehicles category features some guides on carbs, as well as some other aftermarket parts for automotive beauties of the past, still holding strong in the present.

Often, I also take a more bird’s eye view of popular aftermarket brands. I’m sure many of you have heard of Monroe or KYB, but I also analyze and take a look at up-and-coming and not-that-known brands.

In general, I aim to cover as many product line-ups as I can when I compare one brand to another. Good examples of my approach include my comparison between ACDelco vs MOOG in the classics department or benchmarking TRQ in the newcomer category. I have some triple comparisons too, I feel a good take on that is my SKF vs Timken vs MOOG article discussing their wheel hub assemblies.

My review of FCS shocks/struts and how they live up to Monroe is an example of a more critical analysis of a popular economic brand.

Wrapping up the automotive-related part of Stylethority is…

Car stereo!

Music is important to me, as well as the quality of the acoustics you can hear while commuting or adventuring around. My Audio Style category is all about leading car stereo brands and their line-ups.

It’s small, but presentable and concise enough, I feel. I elaborate on some bang-for-buck choices like Pioneer speakers or tackle the double DIN/single DIN head unit fights between leaders such as Kenwood or JVC.

Aside from its automotive focus, Stylethority is also a place for me to state my preferences for quality outdoors/workwear clothing and stylistic choices.

I’m a merino wool maximalist and the same applies to my significant other; she even makes her own small merino accessories.

She’s the one helping me out with this particular category. You can check our in-depth reviews of newcomer brands such as Meriwool or check out some of our short guides to Smartwool density differences.

A category I’d like to start expanding to soon is footwear, again in the context of workwear/outdoors. I’m a huge fan of Redwing or Danner products, among others. I just need the time (and inspiration) to start this new aspect of Stylethority 🙂

You catch my drift overall, I guess!

While Stylethority might be semi-diverse in the topics I cover (or we cover once the site expands its team), you can expect content that sticks to a few specific niches/industries.

After all, a jack of all trades is a master of none. I have a wide enough, but still niched-down outlook on the ‘term’ style. I can only provide info on what I’m knowledgeable about.

What do your reviews look like?

As I pointed out earlier, I write all of the content you’ll see attributed to the author ‘Xander’ (a.k.a. me). I don’t outsource articles – haven’t done it, and I never will.

A lot of the content you’ll see is rooted in real observations about the brands or products discussed. These observations stem from two sources:

One is my own expertise which is, may I say, pretty high when it comes to car suspension specifically. The other is my participation in communities that focus on all things automotive.

Sometimes direct, personal observations are not possible, though.

In such cases, you can rest assured I’ve gone through a rigorous research process. I’ll be carefully going through information from various external sources, including community forums, established professionals, or reviews from users just like you and me.

This is the reason I’m proud to say the reviews on Stylethority are transparent and quite often feature handpicked products, tailored to the actual needs of those to whom they are addressed.

Hopefully, you’ll feel the same. I’m always looking for feedback in the form of reader comments under any of the articles on the site.

How can I contact you?

You can always write to info (at) stylethority dot com. I won’t always be able to reply quickly but will do my best to respond as soon as possible.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I don’t allow guest posting in the form of blatant linkbuilding on my site. If you are a brand seeking exposure, you can email me so we can discuss our collaboration.

Please note that I’m fully transparent to my readers. Even if we collaborate, I will write an objective, well-informed, and not blatantly promotional review on your products or services. I’m committed to running Stylethority as a knowledge-filled and user-friendly informational resource.
